Bastet

Bastet, Egypt. Saite Period, 26th Dynasty, 664-525 BC. Bronze with dark patina.. H. 7 cm.
Statuette depicting the goddess Bastet, sitting and wearing a large collar. A beetle is engraved on her head. Bastet was worshipped as the goddess of fertility and guardian of the house.
Ex-Charles Schanté Collection, Paris. Acquired by Philippe Dodier between 1966 and 1968. Then Maryse Dodier Collection, Avranches. Acquired by Galerie Laurent Dodier on the 30th April 2015.
